4 min read

Our readers said they found our local’s roundup of San Diego Memorial Day Activities helpful so we are back to be the best San Diego guide around! Welcome to things to do in San Diego for Labor Day 2024, made by locals for everyone!

According to the Department of Labor, many Americans celebrate Labor Day with parades and parties – festivities very similar to those outlined by the first proposal for a holiday. The proposal suggested that the day should be observed with – a street parade to exhibit “the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations” of the community, followed by a festival for the recreation and amusement of the workers and their families.

Now, we don’t expect everyone here to keep up on their latin, pretty sure that’s an East Coast thing. According to our friends at Google, esprit de corps means the common spirit existing in the members of a group and inspiring enthusiasm, devotion, and strong regard for the honor of the group. Heck yeah! For everyone working on Labor Day, we are sorry. We will tip you HEAVILY for taking one for the team.

In addition to the healthy water quality, the La Jolla Shores is also a great spot for a beach side picnic or barbecue. There’s plenty of grass, a playground, and restrooms/showers directly nearby. Especially on a Holiday weekend, the parking lot WILL fill up quickly, so try to arrive early!
